    I found mention of the non-invasive diagnostic scanner, dual-energy computed tomograhy (DECT). [edit: link was to non-existing page]

    It appears to be simply a matter of more sophisticated granularity facilitated by the dual nature of the embedded mechanism inside the housing, as Trev alluded to real time ?stereo? imaging. Monosodium urate still the tag being peeked at.
