Is it possible to overdo the supplements.

I have been taking and as yet do not know how effective they have been:  Fresh lemon juice, celery seeds, fresh cherries and cherry extract and bi-carbonate of soda.

Is it OK to take all of these (pocket permitting), alternatite daily or what.

If overkill what what you keep / drop?

It's all good mate Wink Only thing you might have to watch is the bicarb if you've got any high blood pressure issues(sodium/salt intake).

If they wrok for you, good. Sodium must be watched. I never tried bi-carbonate but none other items work for me. It was just waste of time and money and continued agony /pain. I started taking mother of all – Allop 300 and everything seems to be under control. I do not take nay supplement nor do I think about what I am eating from Gout prospective.
In my personal experience, they are all useless and a desperate attempt to avoid taking Allop. But if Allop works fine, why not take it and live a better life than keep thinking what to eat and what not.
By the way I love cherries and eat them a lot but not from Gout point of view.

    caveman,

I doubt that it will make much difference whether you take them or not. You are in a state of watchful waiting to see if you have attack #2. You will or you won't. If you do you should get on allopurinol, if you don't have another attack consider that you probably don't have gout. Even if cherry juice concentrate will keep you free of attacks, who can afford to take ot every day, forever?

Or are you certain you will go on allopurinol in 6 weeks (from your earlier post) and are just trying to get from here to there without pain? If your doctor is really CERTAIN you have gout, then waiting 6 weeks seems a long tine to put you at risk.

I think maybe the best thing to do from now until allopurinol is NOTHING, behave normally. That way, if you don't have another attack you probably do not have gout. If you are taking a gajilliion home remedies, you might assume that you DO have gout but one of the remedies is curing you. Why throw too many variables into the mix.

Be careful. I had a bugger of an attack a few weeks ago and was taking anything and everything, Bicarb, diclofenac, cocodamol, cider vinegar.naproxen, cherrys to name a few, was up all night vomiting and had the mother of all headaches had to stay in bed the following day and the gout just carried on throbbing.  now on colchchine and allop for gout and keeping a decent fluid intake and seems to be almost under control (touch wood) and asprin, Clopidogrel and amlodipine + a nitro spray if needed until further tests prove that I am perfectly fit Smile    or otherwise .Frown

PS sorry about the pic of my bike being so large and making the e mails to wide I didn't realise that would happen.

Zip. He won't give me Allo any sooner than 4-6 weeks because of experiences he said he's had of prescibing it too soon after a Gout attack.

In the meantime I have had an Xray (to eliminate injury) and had another SUA, as my first showed 428 (7.2) during my attack. This one should be more conclusive.

I will carry on with the supplements only because I have already bought them.

One last question. Do you have joint aches following an attack, when the swelling, redness and pain have subsided.
