It's been 1 year and 8 months since my first gout attack, and for a few months following, there were 4 mild attacks. I've been quiet in regard to posting here, because there's not too much to say. That's a good thing. I've read on here that x-rays can't prove one has gout, but the doctor sent me for x-rays first, and confirmed gout. I've read pros and cons about Coch, Allo, and other drugs and it's still confusing. I'm now on 300 mg of Allo, and that's all. That was a gradual thing, increasing the dosage from 100, to 200, to 300mg, over a period of a year. No news is good news, but I remain watchful. I've had no pain or attacks for over a year now. One worry is I've gained weight, about 20 lbs., basically because I've been eating whatever I want, with the exception of shell fish, which I won't touch. I guess my memory does not serve me well in regard to junk food and sweets. But, I'm back on track now, and have AGAIN cut out sweets and all simple carbs. I've never been a drinker so a glass of wine every couple weeks is about it. So, there's not much to say from me, but I do think of all my gout friends and can relate to all these problems. Part of?jogging my memory is visiting here to read from time to time. It also reminds me that everybody, and every doctor, has an opinion regarding dosage, meds, and diagnosis. Just shows how little is known about gout. Good luck to all!

I wish the best for you Limpy. Gout is definitely the enemy and can rear its ugly head, time and time again.
