Hello let me start be saying thank you for this site. Theres alot of great info on here. I hope I'm posting this in the right place. Anyway here goes. I've been having bouts of gout in both feet off and on for the last 2 years. But it wasn't confirmed till may 10th of this year when they drained my foot for the second time and found crystals. May 7th I started on 20 mgs of prednisone then on the 12th dropped to 10mg on the 17th when down to 5mg the 22nd I started  200mg ALL. the 26th  BOOM my foot blow up again. Was put on 60 mg of pred. the highest dose I've ever been on. June 1st cut back to 30mg pred June 6th back to 20 mg pred another big flair. June 9th back to 60mg June 14th down to 30mg that's when my heart started pounding and skipping a few beats. My regualer doctor said I was coming down off the prednisone to fast and put me back to 50 mg for three days then 40 for three and so on they also put me on .06 col. two days after my heart started acting up. Anyway I'm going to go down the 30mg tomorrow and hope the swelling and the pain stays away. Also for the last couple of months my feet will go numb from time my left will go after I have my shoe on for about 10 minutes. If I walk around the house barefoot or just in my socks after a few minutes my heel feels like I'm standing on gravel . The right one will go if i sit in a chair to long. Any input will be greatly appreciated.  I guess I'll  have some more test done on them once I get the gout under control wish me luck. LIMPY

    Hi Limpy,

it is typical of Gout to get such bouts many times before it settles down. More so if the gout area is put under pressure like walking a bit too early. In my case, whenever I was stopping Colchcine and walking out of house, within 1-2 days, I would get the pain and swelling back. So, I went through many bllod tests including Serum Uric Acid(SUA) and was put on Allopurinol /Colchcine. That was almost 11 months back. Since then, though I got many scary sensations and still get them some times( twinges, pain in ankles /knee etc.), there has been no gout attack and no pain killer for gout since July 28 last year.

It is not clear from your post what are your SUA levels, what treatment are you taking to manage gout e.g. Allopurinol or something similar etc? If you can provide some more details, that would help to better understand your situation and many people on this forum would advise you much better than what you would probably get from your medico.

Hello UTUBE I know when they tested my blood the 1st  time they just said it was in the normal range whatever that is. Then the next one was a high. after 2 weeks on 200 MG  ALLOP. It was 5.5 I was told that was good. I'm on one  0.6 Colchcine pill twice a day. and still taking Prednisone that i hope to get off of soon.
