I guess I am experiencing my first gout attack.  It is in my foot behind my toes, closer to the arch.  Foot is very swollen and red and inflamed.  I do have a recent history of being stepped on by my horse but 2 or more weeks between the trauma (which wasn't traumatic.) and the pain.

My uric acid levels were normal and an x-ray showed no fracture.  Family doctor gave me indocin and ultram.  Rheumatologist gave me a steroid shot and colchicine.  None of it has helped and the colchicine seems to be making me very fatigued and sick.  Very gassy.  I skipped tonight's dose.

My swelling is down but pain remains.  I am so angry about this.  I was diagnosed rheum. arthritis 4 yrs ago and found to have multiple bacterial infections that can contribute to RA.  I have been in significant treatment ever since including phenomenal diet with alkaline in mind.  Much holistic treatment of RA has had great results and now this!!!

I just shouldn't be a candidate for gout or pseudogout and if I am, WHY CAN'T I GET PAIN  RELIEF???????

Sorry, I am just so #@! mad!!

I was on the indocin for 3 days (Rheumy said not to take any longer than that as it can cause migraines) and I was on Colchicine (.06 twice daily) for just 2 days.  My foot got more swollen and painful.   I don't think I can tolerate the Colchicine which is bad news for me if this is pseudogout.

Is finding no pain relief the norm for gout?

Has your gout been confirmed by analysis of joint fluid? If not, what makes you think you have gout?
