Courtesy Medscape.

This was a CME activity. Though it is too old to merit certification, it is still a valuable resource:

This activity is intended for rheumatologists, primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and nurses.

The goal of this activity is to help clinicians develop a treatment plan for patients with gout based on the new recommendations.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the management approach to gout recommended by the 2012 American College of Rheumatology guidelines, including assessment of risk factors and comorbid conditions, and urate-lowering therapy options.
  2. Compare and contrast the updated guidelines with the previous recommendations for the management of gout.
  3. Develop a treatment plan for patients with gout based on the new recommendations.
